Who we are

Beaconly is a small web design studio based in Glasgow. When you send us an enquiry, we’re responsible for looking after your details (the “data controller” under UK data protection law).

You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@beaconly.uk.

What we collect

When you fill in the enquiry form on this website, we collect:

  • your name
  • your business name and type of business
  • your Instagram handle or website, if you give it
  • your email address
  • your phone number, if you give it
  • anything else you choose to tell us in the message box

If you message us on Instagram instead, we see what you send us there. Instagram’s own privacy policy covers how Meta handles that conversation.

Why we use it

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, design your free mock-up and, if you decide to go ahead, talk to you about your website. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and taking steps you’ve asked for before we agree a project.

We won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing, and we never sell your details.

Who else handles it

  • Formspree receives the enquiry form and passes it to us by email. Formspree is based in the United States.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website. Like any web host, it processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
  • cdnjs and jsDelivr deliver two small code libraries used for the page animations. Your browser downloads them directly, so these services see your IP address.

Where your details are processed outside the UK, we rely on these providers’ data processing terms, which include safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

If you don’t become a client, we delete your enquiry within 12 months of our last conversation. If you do become a client, we keep project and payment records for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting.

Cookies and tracking

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or any tracking. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • send you a copy of the details we hold about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your details
  • stop or limit how we use them

To do any of these, email hello@beaconly.uk. We’ll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your details, please tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your details, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
